Google Isn’t Really All That Alert

, O.J. SimpsonI highly recommend Google News Alerts. I have several set for topics I’m particularly interested in. That’s one way I find stories I cite in this blog.

I did have to wonder today, though, just how effective and/or thorough these alerts are. That’s because I got an alert for “Anatomy of a Trial”. The alert was for this:

Be Careful Where Camera Goes

That’s an item I posted on this blog a week ago. That is the only Google News Alert I’ve gotten for any of the posts I’ve made on this blog, even though I’ve posted close to 75 times since I created the blog when my book Anatomy of a Trial: Public Loss, Lessons Learned from The People vs. O.J. Simpson. Twenty-five of those posts went up in the past month. So, I don’t know. I’m probably missing out on a ton of stuff on subjects I set Google News Alerts for.

On the positive side, though, just think how jammed my email inbox would be if I did get a notice every time one of the half-dozen subjects I’ve Set for a Google alert is mentioned online.

I guess I should be thankful.
